Meet Perri Rhoden

  • Perri Rhoden is an Abstract Mixed Media Artist and Muralist based in Seattle, Washington. Her childhood home doubled as her first exhibition space, where her mother would proudly display the art projects Perri created in elementary school. However, she stepped fully into her calling as a visual artist while studying at Howard University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Arts in 2013.

Perri's signature can be spotted in the harmonious play between texture, pattern, and bold hues that characterizes her art. She embraces experimentation with dynamic materials, including acrylic paint, fabric, various gel mediums, glitter and wood. Drawing inspiration from her own identity, Perri threads themes of Black feminine energy and sensuality into each of her works, while maintaining an abstract ambiguity that invites a range of interpretations.

Perri approaches the start of each artistic endeavor with intuition and open-mindedness. Her creative process often consists of listening to music by genre-bending artists who are as versatile as she is, such as Solange, Pharrel Williams, and Lil Wayne. Combining sonic inspiration with the guidance of her own inner voice, Perri brings blank surfaces to life with movement, fluidity, and depth.

In 2020, Perri immersed herself in community with other Black women artists making their mark in the region. She quickly emerged as a vibrant voice in Seattle’s Public Art Sector. Her permanent and temporary art installations have decorated multiple Seattle neighborhoods, including the Central District, Ballard, Downtown Seattle, and Capitol Hill. Her recent public art projects include an installation at the Seattle Design Festival in South Lake Union in collaboration with Wa Na Wari and her upcoming project with Northwest Housing in Florence, Oregon.

Perri has also made an imprint on her regional community by collaborating with small businesses to create limited-edition merchandise as well as retailing signature products of her own. A plant enthusiast and self-care connoisseur, Perri likes to install joy into everyday spaces and objects by lending her artistic vision to lifestyle products. From personal items to larger-than-life canvases, Perri’s portfolio of vivid, emotive artwork continues to expand in breadth and Impact.
